The Plainsmen were not able to rally after a slow start Saturday night in the consolation bracket of the Class 4A bi-district boys basketball tournament, and their season came to an end at Mount Tahoma High School.
Caulin Bakalarski, Eric Wattree, and Ryley Callaghan combined to score 66 points, leading South Kitsap to a 71-64 victory over the Plainsmen.
Robert Franks made four 3-pointers and led Evergreen with 26 points. The Plainsmen finished with a 15-8 record.
"They need to keep their heads up," Evergreen coach Brian Witherspoon said. "We didn't achieve our goal this year. We just have to learn from this experience here. Learn from it and have a better year next year than we had this year."
Witherspoon also thanked the six seniors on the team for their efforts.
The Wolves made four 3-pointers in the first quarter to jump out to a fast start. They led by 11 at the half and 12 going into the fourth quarter.
The Plainsmen cut the deficit to six points a couple of times in a physical fourth quarter but did not get any closer.
"They fought," Witherspoon said of his players.
