Hudson’s Bay — The School of Piano Technology for the Blind played a key role in getting a little music — and color — into some Portland kids’ lives.

As part of Vancouver’s “keys to the city” pianos-in-public-places project last year, an artsy upright piano was restored by the school and then donated to Sunstone Montessori Elementary School, in Southwest Portland, through the generosity of some Portland Piano International board members.

Dewald Deventer, a South African native who studies at the School of Piano Technology, showed off his chops for students as the piano was unveiled.
