• Two Clark County business and civic leaders have been appointed to serve on the board of the Clark College Foundation, a nonprofit that serves as the fundraising arm of Clark College. Jeanne Firstenburg and Renee Nutter are expected to play key roles in the success of Clark College students over their three-year terms. Firstenburg was recently appointed to the office of president of First Independent, the region’s largest privately owned bank. Nutter, a lifetime resident of the Vancouver area, attended Clark College. She has served on numerous local committees and boards involving youth, education and activities.

Jonathan Vinson, MD, has been selected to represent Southwest Medical Group on the parent board of directors for Southwest Washington Health System. The medical group has nearly 100 primary care and medical specialists. Dr. Vinson practices family medicine with an emphasis on reproductive health.

Other business news

• Burgerville, with its chain of 39 restaurants in Washington and Oregon, and Riverview Bank were both honored in May with an Association of Washington Business Community Service Award. The awards recognize companies of all sizes and types across the state for contributions and volunteerism that make communities better places to live and work. Burgerville recently launched its Community Champion program supporting various local charities throughout the year. The bank’s Fill-A-Bag food drive program is a hugely successful community event in Skamania and Klickitat counties.

• Ron’s Auto Cascade Park, 16211 S.E. First St., and Hi-Way Fuel, 1250 E St., Washougal have been recognized as AAA Top Shops in Washington. Each year, AAA Washington evaluates the quality of repair work, courtesy of employees, and the shop cleanliness of each AAA Approved Auto Repair facility in Washington and northern Idaho. Measured by customer satisfaction surveys and feedback, the “best of the best” earn a AAA Top Shop Award. The facilities that earn this honor typically have received customer satisfaction rates close to 100 percent during the last calendar year.
