Letter: Revisit kennel code for noise levels

The situation with the constant barking from a kennel of Rottweilers in Battle Ground is just wrong. Paul Scarpelli, the manager of Clark County Animal Protection & Control, is following the law that pertains to this problem and said the department “can’t enforce the noise and nuisance laws, because the dogs’ owners have applied for a kennel license and because there’s a new kennel code.”

In the past, I have had this same situation happened in my Vancouver home with only one neighbor’s barking dog. It was excruciating, but Animal Control took care of it.

I would suggest that the Battle Ground mayor and City Council look into this code immediately. If any one of those people had to suffer — yes, I mean suffer — this continued barking, they would somehow see that this situation is resolved. One neighbor should not be allowed to disrupt an entire area. Change the law, so Animal Control can’t use it as an excuse any longer. Help this neighborhood in Battle Ground keep its sanity.
