A pedestrian was struck by a car and injured early Sunday morning when she crossed Highway 99 in Hazel Dell without using a crosswalk, Clark County Fire District 6 Battalion Chief Brian Johnson said.

At about 12: 45 a.m., the 17-year-old girl was crossing the road, at 9000 Highway 99, when a southbound car hit her, Johnson said. The girl sustained injuries that were not life-threatening and was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.

“She apparently was not crossing in a crosswalk, and the driver didn’t see her,” Johnson said.

The driver of the car stayed at the scene of the collision and cooperated with law enforcement officials, Johnson said. He did not release the names of the driver or of the girl struck by the car.
