The Hazel Dell Half Marathon and 8-K will take place at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.
The races start and end at the Hazel Dell Town Center shopping complex, which is located just west of Interstate 5 at 9301 N.E. Fifth Ave.
The cost is $65 for the half marathon and $45 for the 8-kilometer race. The fee includes a race T-shirt and refreshments.
Through Thursday, runners can register by visiting www.active.com.
The race donates funds to Panda Paws Animal Rescue.
Adult baseball tryouts Sunday
The Northwest Independent Baseball League will hold tryouts from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday at Westmoreland Park at Southeast 23rd and Lambert in Portland.
The league offers competitive baseball for adults in various age divisions. The season runs May to August. Games are played weeknights and on weekends in Vancouver and around the metro area.
Cost to try out is $10.

High school hockey update
Two players from Union High School contributed as the Winterhawks Varsity League’s select team went 2-2 during its President’s Cup Tournament.
Defenseman Jimmy Scott was selected his team’s MVP in a 2-0 loss to Tri-Cities. Forward Alex Stoneham had goals in both wins, 4-1 over Cloverdale and 4-1 over North Vancouver (B.C.)
Held Friday through Monday at the Winterhawks Skating Center in Beaverton, the tournament featured 16 teams of high school players from around the Northwest.
A team from North Vancouver (B.C.) won the tournament.
Free hockey clinic on March 1
A free ice hockey clinic for boys and girls ages 4-9 will be held on March 1 at Mountain View Ice Arena in Vancouver.
The hour-long clinic starts at 8:40 a.m., and is part of USA Hockey’s seventh-annual Hockey Weekend Across America, which runs Feb. 28-March 2.
The Vancouver Youth Hockey Association is hosting the clinic. According to Bob Knoerl, president of the youth program, there is some equipment available for hockey beginners to use for free.
