Two people were injured Wednesday evening in a two-vehicle collision in which one car caught fire on southbound Interstate 5 near Ridgefield.

Eric W. Funk, 23, of Woodland was driving about 30 mph in his Toyota Corolla in the left lane of the freeway near Milepost 15, witnesses told the Washington State Patrol. His car was rear-ended by a Chevrolet HHR driven by Cynthia A. Breunig, 39, of Vancouver. Her vehicle struck the guardrail and caught on fire.

Both Funk and Breunig were transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. Their conditions were unavailable Wednesday evening.

The State Patrol cited Funk for impeding traffic. Two lanes were closed on I-5 south while troopers investigated the collision. The incident caused traffic to back up into Woodland.
