SEATTLE — A magnitude 3 quake at 7:48 a.m. Thursday under the Kitsap Peninsula was barely felt.

A spokesman for the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network at the University of Washington, Bill Steele, says there was only report online that the quake was felt and that was in the Port Ludlow area.

Steele says the quake was 14 miles underground. It was centered about eight miles west of Bremerton and a mile south of Seabeck.

Steele says there are small quakes in that area several times a year.
