GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Florida cornerback Marcus Roberson is leaving school early and entering the NFL draft.

Roberson, a 6-foot, 195-pound junior from Fort Lauderdale, announced his intentions Friday. He joins defensive tackle Dominique Easley and cornerback Loucheiz Purifoy as Florida players who left school early this season to pursue NFL careers.

Gators coach Will Muschamp says it was a pleasure watching Roberson “mature and develop both on and off the field.”

Roberson played in seven games, with four starts, as a junior. He had 11 tackles and three passes defensed. In three seasons, he had 56 tackles, 17 pass breakups and three interceptions.

Roberson says he can “truly appreciate everything that is in place here for players to be successful and have an opportunity to play at the next level.”
