MISSOULA, Mont — Montana Transportation Department officials say a huge load of oil production equipment that has traveled from Oregon and through Idaho does not yet have a permit to travel on Montana’s highways and likely won’t until next week.
Motor Carriers’ Division administrator Duane Williams tells KGVO-AM that the transport company, Omega-Morgan, submitted a revised travel plan on Dec. 24. He says the department’s district offices are reviewing the plan and he expects the agency’s review to be complete early next week.
Omega-Morgan spokeswoman Holly Zander said the load was in Howe, Idaho, on Friday afternoon, about 170 miles from Lost Trail Pass, where it would enter Montana. The load is scheduled to travel though Missoula, Bonner, Valier and Cut Bank before entering Canada at Sweetgrass.
The equipment is bound for an oil project in Alberta.
