Boys basketball: Columbia River 57, Lake City (Idaho) 48, OT

The Chieftains made their free throws when it counted and came away with third place at the Lake City Winter Tournament.

Spencer Long’s putback of a missed 3-pointer tied the game for Columbia River (6-2) with five seconds to play in regulation, and Lake City’s last shot was no good.

In the overtime, Columbia River made 9 of 11 free throws to ice the victory, and held Lake City without a field goal.

Nathan Hawthorne scored a season-high 16 points, Joey Bean had a season-high 14 points, and Chad Pedigo pulled down 13 rebounds for the Chieftains.
