Letter: Benton is at it again

To paraphrase Vice President Joe Biden, it often seems that the only three things state Sen. Don Benton, R-Vancouver, mentions in a sentence are a noun, a verb, and Planned Parenthood. Hasn’t this gone on long enough?

Every few months our county environmental services director makes a wild, unsupported claim about Planned Parenthood that is immediately discredited. This time he was talking about a 2-year-old lawsuit that has already been dismissed. Sen. Benton has repeatedly voted against women’s personal medical decisions throughout his career, trying to get rid of abortion and defund Planned Parenthood. How can anyone take him seriously when he has been proven untrustworthy on this issue time after time? I would like the department of environmental services in Clark County to focus on just that: environmental services. Women’s health care should be left to women and their doctors, with Benton nowhere to be found.
