FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) — Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez’s girlfriend plans to seek dismissal of a perjury charge she faces in connection with the murder case against him.

Shayanna Jenkins’ lawyer said during a brief proceeding in a Fall River, Mass., courtroom on Monday she intends to file motions to dismiss. She says there isn’t evidence to support the charge.

Jenkins is free on personal recognizance after pleading not guilty.

Prosecutors say Jenkins lied to the grand jury that indicted Hernandez, including about disposing of evidence at his request. They’ve said most of her testimony was “not credible.”

Hernandez is accused of killing semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd, a Boston resident who was dating Jenkins’ sister. The Bristol, Conn., native has pleaded not guilty.

A telephone conference has been scheduled for next month in Jenkins’ case.
