Ridgefield — Union Ridge Elementary School sixth-graders learned about mummies and more during a recent three-week lesson on ancient Egyptian history and mythology. Led by social studies teacher Tammy Burggraff, students picked topics that fascinated them most about the region’s past. A few studied the importance of cats in the culture and others researched mummification and ancient Egypt’s understanding of the afterlife. “I really enjoyed learning so much about a topic I knew nothing about,” said student Jason Gasca in a press release.
