Delaware defeats Hofstra 86-79

NEWARK, Del. (AP) — Devon Saddler came off the bench to score 24 points to lead Delaware in an 86-79 victory over Hofstra on Wednesday night.

Jarvis Threatt had 20 points, seven rebounds and three steals for the Fightin’ Blue Hens (9-7, 1-0 Colonial Athletic Association). Davon Usher scored 19 points and Kyle Anderson added 12.

Hofstra went up by 12 at 11:25 of the first period and into the break leading by five, 41-36.

Delaware came back in the second period, taking a 50-45 lead on a Carl Baptiste dunk at 14:46. Devon Saddler hit from 3-point range at 4:26 to put the Fightin’ Blue Hens up by 10. Threatt sank four free throws in the game’s final 40 seconds to seal the win for Delaware.

Zeke Upshaw led the Pride (4-11, 0-1) with 19 points, eight rebounds and a pair of steals.
