JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) — Josh Williams scored a career-high 34 points and J.C. Hampton hit a jumper with 5 seconds remaining to lift Lipscomb over East Tennessee State 82-80 Thursday night.

Lipscomb (6-10, 1-4 Atlantic Sun) led by 11 points twice in the second half but ETSU slowly chipped away and tied the game at 80 on a Jalen Riley layup with 33 seconds to play. Hampton’s jumper 28 seconds later proved to be the difference as Riley missed a 3-pointer as time expired.

Williams, who scored 28 in Monday’s loss to Jacksonville, made 13 of 17 field goals and hit 3 of 7 from deep.

The Bison shot a season-high 58 percent from the floor and made 11 of 22 3-pointers to overcome being out-rebounded 37-29, including 18-4 on the offensive glass.

Rashawn Rembert paced ETSU (8-8, 1-2) with 24 points while Kinard Gadsden-Gilliard added 15 points and six assists.
