Quinnipiac beats Manhattan 81-76

HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) — Zaid Hearst scored 20 points Thursday night and Ike Azotam added 17 and grabbed 18 rebounds as Quinnipiac rallied to beat Manhattan 81-76, ending the Jaspers’ four-game Metro Atlantic Conference winning streak.

Manhattan (11-3, 4-1) jumped to a 14-8 lead, but Quinnipiac (9-5, 4-1) came back and took a 28-27 lead on a jumper by Azotam. The Bobcats led 39-35 at halftime.

The Bobcats built a 10-point second-half lead, but Manhattan went ahead 62-61 at 8:08 on a layup by Rashawn Stores. Hearst hit a 3-pointer to put Quinnipiac up 69-67 and the Bobcats pulled ahead and held on for the win.

Ousmane Drame grabbed 14 rebounds for the Bobcats, who were outshot from the field 42 percent to 39 percent, but scored 31 free-throw points to 14 for Manhattan.

Michael Alvarado scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Manhattan. Shane Richards added 11 points and Ashton Pankey 10.
