ROME (AP) — Roma coach Rudi Garcia says American midfielder Michael Bradley is on the verge of joining Toronto FC.

Italian media report Roma has accepted an offer of 7 million euros ($9.5 million) for Bradley from the Major League Soccer club.

The 26-year-old Bradley, a star with the U.S. national team, is in his second season with Roma after joining from Chievo Verona in 2012. He has started just five of 19 league matches this season, when he was sidelined for a month by a sprained ankle.

After an Italian Cup win over Sampdoria on Thursday, Garcia said “Bradley wanted to go. We couldn’t keep the player. He did very well with me in these months, but I understand he wants to play more.”

Bradley, the son of former U.S. coach Bob Bradley, started his career with MLS’s MetroStars before moving to Europe, where he also had spells with Heerenveen, Borussia Moenchengladbach and Aston Villa.
