Baron’s 38 leads Canisius past Rider, 94-91 in 2OT

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Billy Baron scored a career-high 38 points, including 10 in the decisive second overtime period, to lift Canisius to a 94-91 victory over Rider Friday night.

The senior son of second-year Canisius coach Jim Baron scored 26 points in the final 17 minutes of the game, pumping in 11 points in the final 6:32 of regulation and five in the first overtime.

Rider’s Zedric Sadler had a three-point play with :24 left in regulation forced the first overtime and his jumper with :22 left in the first overtime gave the Broncs a 76-73 lead.

Baron’s three-point play with :12 left tied the game at 76-76 and forced the second overtime.

Canisius (10-6, 4-1 Metro Atlantic) took a quick 5-point lead in final overtime and Baron kept the Golden Griffins in front the rest of the way.

Anthony Myles’ 30-point effort paced Rider (7-7, 3-2 Metro Atlantic).
