Oliver Bjorkstrand’s one-timer on a power play with five minutes remaining broke a 1-1 tie as the Portland Winterhawks won at Victoria 2-1 Saturday in Western Hockey League action.

It was Portland’s first win in four games over the Royals this season.

Brendan Leipsic struck early for the Hawks (27-12-2-3), scoring 2:46 into the game in what would be the lone goal of the period.

Victoria evened the game at the 12:49 mark of the third on a power play goal from Jordan Fransoo.

Brendan Burke returned from injury and was terrific in net for the Hawks, stopping 23 of the 24 shots he faced.

The Hawks wrap up their four-game road trip today in Vancouver against the Giants.
