DAVIDSON, N.C. (AP) — De’Mon Brooks scored 13 of his 19 points in the second half as Davidson pulled away from Appalachian State for a 78-66 win Saturday night.

Tevin Baskin gave Appalachian State (4-12, 0-3 Southern Conference) a 36-35 lead 5 seconds into the second half, but Davidson used a 19-6 run to open up a 12 point lead with just over 14 minutes to play.

The Mountaineers rattled off six straight points to get within 54-48 with 12:09 remaining, but wouldn’t get any closer and Davidson gradually extended its lead as high as 15 in the game’s waning minutes.

The Wildcats (7-10, 3-0) shot 57 percent from the field and 55 percent from 3-point range while turning 15 Appalachian State turnovers into 18 points.

Jay Canty scored a season-high 23 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the loss.

Tyler Kalinoski scored 16 and Chris Czerapowicz added 15 for Davidson.
