Harvard clamps down on Dartmouth 61-45

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — Brandyn Curry scored all of his season-high 17 points in the second half as Harvard broke away from Dartmouth to win its conference opener 61-45 Saturday.

The Crimson (14-2, 1-0 Ivy League) never trailed but found themselves in a 30-30 tie as Dartmouth scored the first three points after halftime. Curry banged down eight quick points as Harvard embarked on a 16-2 run over the next 6 minutes.

Curry had another streak, scoring seven in the Crimson’s 9-5 run late in the game to maintain a double-digit lead. Steve Moundou-Missi added 16 points.

Dartmouth (7-7, 0-1) was held to 30 percent shooting (6-20) after halftime (37.8 all game) and harried into 11 turnovers in the period (18 all game).

Gabas Maldunas’ 23 points (9 of 13) led Dartmouth. No one else made more than two field goals.

Harvard leading scorer Wesley Saunders (knee) did not dress for the game.
