Long Beach State over UC Davis 99-74

LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Travis Hammonds came off the bench to score 20 points and grab six rebounds as Long Beach State defeated UC Davis 99-74 on Saturday night.

Mike Caffey had 17 points, seven assists and four rebounds for the 49ers (5-11, 1-1 Big West Conference). Tyler Lamb scored 16 points and David Samuels added 10 points and 10 rebounds. The team finished the game hitting 56 percent from the field, 83.3 percent from the line and 52 percent from 3-point range.

UC Davis led by eight points early in the contest and had a 44-40 edge going into the break. But LBSU would go 9 of 14 from 3-point range and 8 of 8 from the line in the second period to lead by as much as 29 with 1:45 left to play.

The 49ers bench scored 40 points in the game.

Ryan Sypkens led the Aggies (5-12, 0-2) with 21 points.
