SE Louisiana beats Abilene Christian 85-77 in 2OT

HAMMOND, La. (AP) — Antonnio Benton, who scored 27 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, hit a 3-point shot with 2:04 remaining in the second overtime to give Southeastern Louisiana the lead and a 85-77 victory over Abilene Christian Saturday.

Southeastern Louisiana (7-8, 2-2 Southland Conference) held a commanding 40-25 lead at the half. Abilene Christian (6-10, 0-2) came back to tie at 64 at the end of regulation.

The Lions were trailing 72-70 when Benton hit a jump shot with two seconds remaining to tie the score at the end of the first overtime.

The Lions trailed 77-76 with 2:17 remaining in the second overtime. Benton hit a 3-point shot for the lead and the defense held Abilene Christian scoreless in the final two minutes.

JaMichael Hawkins had 20 points for the Lions.

LaDarrien Williams with 30 points and Harrison Hawkins with 29 led the Wildcats.
