Towson over UNC-Wilmington 60-53

TOWSON, Md. (AP) — Jerrelle Benimon scored 20 points and grabbed 17 rebounds to lead Towson to a 60-53 victory over UNC-Wilmington Saturday.

Benimon went 6 of 13 from field and sank 8 of 10 from the line, scoring 16 of his 20 points in the second period.

Four McGlynn had 11 points and three assists for the Tigers (10-6, 1-0 Colonial Athletic Association). Timajh Parker-Rivera and Marcus Damas each added eight points. Towson hit 34 percent from the field overall and 71 percent from the free throw line.

Towson overcame an early six-point deficit to go up by nine midway through the first period and led 26-24 at the break. The Seahawks tied it up 30-30 early in the second before the Tigers mounted a 15-8 run to retake the lead 45-38 with 8:21 left to play.

Cedrick Williams scored 15 points and had seven rebounds for the Seahawks (6-12, 0-3).
