Canisius beats Monmouth (N.J.) 87-86

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Billy Baron scored 26 points and Zach Lewis added 25 as Canisius beat Monmouth (N.J.) 87-67 on Sunday.

Lewis, a freshman, scored a career-high after making seven 3-pointers for Canisius (11-6, 5-1 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). The Golden Griffins made 14 of 30 shots from behind the arc, including five by Baron. Lewis and Baron combined to make 15 of 26 shots, including 12 of 19 from 3-point range.

Josh James came off the bench and scored 16 for Monmouth (8-9, 2-4). The Hawks also got 11 points from Justin Robinson. Both teams made 21 of 30 free throws.

Baron started the game with a 3-pointer as Canisius took the lead and never let it go. Baron also grabbed eight rebounds and had six assists. Jordan Heath added 14 points, two 3-pointers, and seven rebounds.
