Vance leads Alcorn St. past Grambling St. 64-56

LORMAN, Miss. (AP) — Marquis Vance scored 20 points, eight coming at the free throw line, as Alcorn State beat Grambling State 64-56 on Monday night.

LeAntwan Luckett added 17 points for Alcorn State (5-11, 2-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference) and Octavius Brown added 10 and nine rebounds.

A’Torri Shine finished with 16 points in a losing effort for Grambling State (1-12, 0-4). Antwan Scott added 14 and Remond Brown had 11 for the Tigers.

Alcorn State made four more free throws (19) than Grambling State attempted (8 of 15) and held a 28-18 advantage on the glass.

Grambling State scored just 19 points in the first quarter and trailed by as many as 20 points in the contest.

Alcorn State made 58.8 percent of its shots, including 8 of 13 in the second half.
