The Columbian
Published: January 15, 2014, 4:00pm

Concordia University seinor Adam Herman scored 19 points in the Cavaliers’ 75-69 road win Friday over Northwest Christian University.

The Prairie High School graduate eclipsed the Concordia career scoring record midway through the first half. He then scored 23 points in an 83-73 win Saturday at Corban — also grabbing 11 rebounds, for his first double-double of the season — and now has scored 1,874 points in 98 career games.

Herman is on pace to become the first 2,000-point scorer in program history. The previous record of 1,832 points was held by Alphonso Niles from 1996-2000.

Herman is a three-time First Team All-Cascade Collegiate Conference selection, and an NAIA All-American last season.

Gelhar’s big night leads Saint Martin’s

Junior guard Angela Gelhar scored 36 points Saturday, shooting 6 of 9 from three-point range and 12 of 14 from the free throw line to lead Saint Martin’s University to an 85-78 road win over Alaska-Anchorage.

The Prairie High School graduate’s career high scoring night was the fifth-highest individual scoring output in program history, and the first time in three years that any Saint Mary’s player scored at least 30 points in a game.

She made at least 10 free throws for third time this season for the Saints (10-4, 4-1 Great Northwest Athletic Conference).

Gelhar is averaging 12.6 points a game and shooting .852 (69 of 81) from the line.
