CLEVELAND (AP) — Free agent veteran outfielder Nyjer Morgan has agreed a minor league contract with the Cleveland Indians.

Morgan will report to major spring training, the Indians said Thursday. The 33-year-old spent last season with Yokohama of Japan’s Central League. He previously played for Pittsburgh, Washington and Milwaukee.

The speedy Morgan, a .280 career hitter, has 117 career steals during six seasons in the majors. He finished second in the NL with 42 steals in 2009 for the Pirates and Nationals.

Morgan was a sparkplug for the Brewers during their playoff run in 2011, when he batted. 304 with four homers, a career-high 20 doubles and 37 RBIs in 119 games.

He was selected in the 2002 amateur draft by Pittsburgh after a four-year junior hockey stint in Canada.
