UC Riverside comes back, beats UC Davis 81-69

DAVIS, Calif. (AP) — Taylor Johns scored 22 points as UC Riverside came back from a 19-point second-half deficit to beat UC Davis 81-69 on Thursday night.

UC Riverside (6-11, 1-2 Big West Conference) trailed 51-32 early in the second half but went on a 40-11 run — capped with 14 straight points — to take a 72-62 lead with less than four minutes remaining.

Sam Finley added 19 points, Chris Patton had 14 and Steven Thornton scored 13 as the Highlanders shot 55.1 percent from the field and 7 of 9 from beyond the arc. Johns was 9 of 12 on field goals.

Corey Hawkins led UC Davis (5-13, 0-3) with 18 points. The Aggies were 13 of 30 on 3-pointers but hit just 14 of 26 from the free-throw line.
