ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Georgia has reinstated swimmer Chase Kalisz after an academic review, but longtime coach Jack Bauerle remains barred from meets.

Athletic director Greg McGarity announced Friday night that Kalisz is eligible to compete when the Bulldogs face Tennessee on Jan. 25.

Kalisz and Bauerle were both withheld from competition just hours before a Jan. 4 meet against North Carolina State. The school hasn’t revealed details of the review.

Bauerle is one of the nation’s most prominent swimming coaches, leading the Georgia women since 1979 and the men’s program since 1983. He guided the Lady Bulldogs to their fifth national title last year and was head coach of the U.S. women’s team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Kalisz won a silver medal in the 400-meter individual medley at last summer’s world championships.
