Long Beach St edges Cal Poly 63-62

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (AP) — Tyler Lamb netted 20 points and grabbed 9 rebounds and Long Beach State survived a Cal Poly comeback, winning 63-62 on Saturday night.

Dan Jennings was big on the boards grabbing 11 while scoring 10 points for the 49ers.

Long Beach State (6-12, 2-2 Big West) executed a 19-2 run to take the lead 26-19 and eventually a 32-29 halftime lead.

The Mustangs fell behind by double digits at the 8:10 mark of the second half when Lamb hit a 3 that put Long Beach up 56-45.

Cal Poly (7-10, 3-1) did not go away and roared back in the final 30 seconds with a Jamal Johnson layup and a Chris Eversley 3-pointer which was set up by a 49er turnover between the Mustang scores.

Cal Poly trailed by one point, 63-62, when a Johnson buzzer-beater missed and Long Beach survived.

Chris Eversley finished with 16 points for the Mustangs.
