Letter: Christie not believable

The Columbian
Published: January 19, 2014, 4:00pm

Gov. Chris Christie reminds me of Sgt. Schultz (TV’s “Hogan’s Heroes”) of “I see nothing” fame. Christie admits people in his governor’s office planned a massive five-day traffic jam at the world’s busiest bridge last year. His explanation of ignorance strains the limits of credulity; Christie says he knew nothing, Christie asked no questions and Christie made no inquiries.

I thought the Republicans would put up a presidential candidate that could possibly attract moderate voters like me. I did not think Christie would win the Republican nomination for president as Christie had already embraced President Obama, worked with Democrats and signed legislation for the Dream Act in New Jersey, all big “no-no’s” for a Republican primary voter. Should Hillary Clinton run for president, it looks like her competition now will be Rafael “Ted” Cruz (who helped shut down the government at a cost of $24 billion) or Rand Paul (serial plagiarist) or another right-wing nut. Madame President is sounding pretty good.
