A Ridgefield woman was cited for careless driving and failing to yield the right of way after the vehicle she was driving collided on Friday with a motorcycle in Milwaukie, Ore., according to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office. The motorcycle’s driver died of his injuries after being sent to the hospital.

At about 10:30 a.m. Friday, Kathryn Gardner, 56, of Ridgefield was driving a black Kia Soul east on Southeast Jennings Road. As she turned left onto Southeast Addie Street, police said, her vehicle struck the motorcycle, which was heading west on Jennings.

The motorcycle’s driver, Charles Horton III, 59, of Milwaukie was thrown from the motorcycle. An ambulance took him to the hospital at Oregon Health & Science University, where he died.

Gardner was not injured in crash. After the collision, she stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.

“The sheriff’s office urges everyone to look twice before turning at intersections and driveways,” the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. “Be on the lookout for motorcyclists, other vehicles and pedestrians.”
