A fast start carried the Trico League leading Beavers to the win at La Center.

Mckenna Mulder scored nine of her game-high 17 points in the first quarter, helping the Beavers to a 14-3 lead.

La Center clawed back, getting within five points in the second half. But Woodland closed out the win at the foul line.

“I’ve got to give La Center credit,” Woodland coach Glen Flanagan said. “They started shooting deeper and deeper 3s and hit some, so that was scary.”

Flanagan said Mulder played a great game despite fouling out in the second half.

“The key for us was getting the ball into Mulder early and establish the inside game,” Flanagan said.

La Center (12-4 overall) is in third place in the Trico League at 10-4. Woodland improved to 15-0, 13-0 In league play.

For the Wildcats, Andrea Griffee scored 12 points and Katie Whitten 10 points. Whitten also had seven assists and five steals. Katie Hebdon pulled down seven rebounds.
