Suspect sought after attempted sandwich shop robbery

Vancouver police are looking for a gunman who tried to rob a sandwich shop Friday evening in east Vancouver.

The incident was reported at 5:25 p.m. at Subway, 1900 N.E. 162nd Ave., in the 162nd Place Shopping Center.

Vancouver Police Department Sgt. Mark Blaisdell said the robber was described as a white man, 5-foot-10, 38 to 40 years old. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.

Blaisdell said the man was armed with a black semi-automatic handgun. He fled empty handed and could not be located by a police dog. He remains at large.
