After a dramatic finish to force overtime, the Hawks scored the only three points of the extra period to beat the visiting Spudders.

Jack Klodt hit a long 3-pointer at the end of the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime as the Hawks outscored the Spudders 8-2 in the final minute of the fourth quarter. Klodt finished off his 22-point night with two of Hockinson’s three points in overtime. A Nate Gunderson free throw accounted for the other point in OT.

“Our defense in overtime was just phenomenal,” Hockinson coach Trevor Person said.

The Hawks (13-3, 3-1) dominated the defensive glass and forced a pair of Ridgfield turnovers in overtime, Person said.

Ridgefield (9-6, 2-3) led 52-46 with one minute left in the fourth quarter.

Klodt hit a 3-pointer, Hockinson forced a turnover and Taylor Ellensohn scored to pull the Hawks within a point.

Ridgefield’s Dalton Morales hit two free throws with seven seconds left.

Hockinson’s Alan Haagen then drew the Spudders’ defense to him and passed the ball to Klodt for the tying 3-pointer that Person said was from about 26 feet.

Nate Gunderson had 11 points and 12 rebounds for Hockinson. Haagen had six assists and defensively held Ridgefield’s David Potter to two points.

Josh Mason scored 21 points for Ridgefield. Neil Biggerstaff scored 12 points and Morales finished with 10 points for the Spudders.
