Winterhawks win streak reaches 6 games

Nic Petan scored two goals and had an assist as the Portland Winterhawks won their sixth straight with a 5-1 Western Hockey League victory over the visiting Everett Silvertips on Friday at the Moda Center.

Petan’s first goal broke a 1-1 tie in the second period and the Hawks (32-12-2-3) never looked back.

Brendan Leipsic had a goal and an assist for Portland, and Derrick Pouliot and Mathew Dumba also had goals.

Brendan Burke picked up the win net for Portland, recording 30 saves on 31 shots.

The Hawks and Silvertips meet again Sunday at Everett.
