Akron beats Central Michigan 82-74

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) — Quincy Diggs scored 19 points and had four steals as Akron beat Central Michigan 82-74 on Saturday night.

Demetrius Treadwell — who led the team with 14 rebounds — and Jake Kretzer each added 15 points for the Zips (13-6, 5-1 Mid-American Conference). Reggie McAdams came off the bench to put up 11 points.

Diggs sank a jumper and a 3-pointer in the final minute of the first period to give Akron a 41-36 halftime lead.

The Chippewas (7-11, 0-6) went up by two at 14:24 in the second before Kretzer and McAdams teamed up for five 3-pointers within eight minutes to help put the Zips back on top for good.

Akron hit 52.6 percent from the field overall and 48 percent from the line.

Blake Hibbitts led the Chippewas with 21 points and six rebounds. Chris Fowler added 19 points and five assists.
