Austin Peay defeats Tennessee Tech 83-69

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Travis Betran scored 20 points and Will Triggs added 17 points and grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds as Austin Peay rolled to an 83-69 victory Saturday night over Tennessee Tech.

Demarius Smith’s jumper gave Austin Peay a 59-46 lead with 10:16 remaining, and the Governors led by double digits the rest of the way. Smith finished with 18 points and nine assists. He injured his ankle during Wednesday’s practice and did not play in the Governors’ loss to Jacksonville State on Thursday night.

Betran hit four 3-pointers and made all eight of his free throw attempts for Austin Peay (9-12, 3-4 Ohio Valley Conference), which snapped a four-game losing streak.

Jeremiah Samarrippas scored 17 points and had seven assists to lead Tennessee Tech (10-12, 3-4). Jordan Johnson scored 12 of his 14 points from 3-point range, and Dwan Caldwell added 13 points.
