Northern Colorado defeats Sacramento State 72-62

GREELY, Colo. (AP) — Tim Huskisson scored 18 points as Northern Colorado topped Sacramento State 72-62 Saturday night to remain tied for first place — with Weber State — in the Big Sky Conference.

Jordan Wilson hit a 3-pointer with 15:26 remaining, sparking a 15-6 run that ended with Northern Colorado (13-4, 7-1) opening up a 59-50 lead, the biggest by either team in the game.

Dylan Garrity’s jumper with 27 seconds left pulled Sacramento State (6-11, 2-6) within six, 68-62, but the Bears made 4 of 4 free throws to close out the game.

Northern Colorado out-rebounded Sacramento State 37-20, including 15-5 on the offensive glass. The Bears held a 15-6 edge in second-chance points and 28-16 advantage in points in the paint.

Derrick Barden finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds while Jordan Wilson scored 11 in the win.

Mikh McKinney and Cody Demps pace the Hornets with 16 points apiece.
