SMITHFIELD, R.I. (AP) — Dyami Starks scored 31 points and Alex Francis had 19 points and 12 rebounds as Bryant held off St. Francis (N.Y.) 83-79 Saturday.

The Bulldogs (13-8, 5-1 Northeast Conference) hit 10 of 12 free throws in the final 70 seconds to hold off a late charge from the Terriers (12-9, 3-3). Bryant finished 35 of 44 from the line with Francis, Starks and Corey Maynard making nine each on 32 attempts. St. Francis was just 17 of 32.

Brent Jones had 20 points for St. Francis.

Starks scored nine straight points for Bryant, capped by a three-point play, for a 73-64 lead with 1:21 to play. But the Bulldogs needed to be sharp at the foul line as St. Francis made four straight shots, including a pair of 3’s, to keep the pressure on.

Francis reached double figures for the 100th time in 111 games for Bryant.
