Stony Brook wins 6th straight, beats Maine 79-61

STONY BROOK, N.Y. (AP) — Ahmad Walker scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to power Stony Brook to its sixth straight win Sunday, this time rolling past Maine, 79-61 to remain undefeated in America East Conference play.

Stony Brook (15-6, 7-0) now has won 13 straight conference games, a streak that dates back to last year, and now have beaten Maine in six straight games, including the last five meetings on its home court.

Walker was joined in double figure scoring by Dave Coley’s 17 points, Carson Puriefoy and Anthony Jackson, who each scored 11, and Eric McAlister’s 10.

The Seawolves trailed briefly in the first half, but took the lead for good after McAlister’s dunk with 16:18 left and lead by as many as 12 points before taking a 27-20 lead into intermission.

Maine (3-16, 1-6) got a 19-point effort from Xavier Pollard, with Till Gloger adding 10 points.
