Letter: Media obsessed with Gov. Walker

The Columbian
Published: July 1, 2014, 12:00am

I see that The Columbian has been influenced by the AP in publishing the June 20 article “Documents: Walker part of criminal plot — Wisconsin governor accused of role in fund-raising scheme” regarding Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and the failed “John Doe” investigation of his campaign activities.

First of all, the allegations are not new, but part of an attempt to obtain a subpoena that was rejected by a state judge. In addition, the constitutionality of the law under which the investigation proceeded — complete with 3 a.m. SWAT team-style raids — has now been called into question by a federal judge, and the prosecutors are being sued for civil rights violations.

I suggest that readers read the following primer to get the facts straight: http://thefederalist.com/2014/06/20/a-basic-primer-on-the-scott-walker-case-for-ignorant-reporters/ .
