Letter: Community support appreciated

The Columbian
Published: July 10, 2014, 12:00am

Recently, our church held a fundraiser for our son Jack, who just recently had a heart transplant. Jack was featured in the June 18 story, “New heart, new start: Ridgefield boy, 7, ‘doing amazing’ after undergoing transplant.” We wanted to take a moment and thank our amazing family, friends and community for showing our family so much love and support.

Though we weren’t able to attend, our family and friends did in our place. The amount of admiration shown toward our family truly makes our hearts smile. It is nice to see our community come together for a family they don’t know. We enjoyed hearing about the people who came in with stories of their own or people who know Jack. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Everyone who donated, whether it was things to sell or money or your time, you all hold a very special place in our hearts.

We also want to thank everyone who worked behind the scenes, setting everything up, making signs, managing the donations and everything else involved in holding a very successful fundraiser.
