Washougal — “Jugglemania” hit Hathaway Elementary School on the morning of July 7. It was the first of five free summer events hosted at Hathaway and open to the public. Celebrated juggler Rhys Thomas, who has performed for everyone from the Smithsonian Institution to the International Congress of Neurological Surgeons, wowed the crowd and also stoked up their appetites; immediately after the show was a free lunch offered as part of the Free Summer Food Program for children. Breakfast is served at Hathaway Monday through Thursday at 8:30 a.m. and lunch is served Monday through Friday at 11:45 a.m. More free summer fun is set for Hathaway: at 11 a.m. on July 31 it’s a visit from staff of the Oregon Coast Aquarium; at 11 a.m. on Aug. 6 it’s health-oriented Smarty Pants Theater, a collaboration of Kaiser Permanent and Oregon Children’s Theater; and at noon on Aug. 12 it’s the OMSI Science Festival.
