Parts of Main Street and some of the surrounding roads in Battle Ground will shut down this weekend for the city’s annual Harvest Days celebration.

From noon to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, East Main Street will be closed between Parkway and Grace avenues. There will also be no access to side streets leading up to Northeast First Street and Southeast First Street at that time.

Later, the closure will extend on Main Street from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. stretching to about a block west of Battle Ground High School. Overnight, Main Street will remain closed from Parkway to Grace avenues.

That portion will also be closed from noon Saturday through 10 a.m. Sunday, when all the streets will reopen. Prior to that, the closure will again extend west just past the high school from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

Harvest Days, now in its 54th year, used to draw crowds of 10,000 to 20,000, but attendance has declined in recent years. This year, the celebration’s many festivities will include a parade, petting zoo, car show, street dance and two beer gardens.
