Letter: ACA provides options

The widespread outrage at the recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling in favor of employers limiting employees’ health insurance overlooks a solution to the problem. Because of the Affordable Care Act, everyone can buy their own health insurance if they a) want to and b) can afford it. If we all paid directly for our health insurance, we could choose what we wanted and needed without an employer making the decision for us.

Employers need to pay their workers what they earn without siphoning off any amount to pay for insurance.

Workers need to understand that they do earn the money employers use for health insurance, that the money is part of the employees’ pay.

Americans have come to think that employers must provide health insurance, which is nonsense. With the Affordable Care Act in place, employees should be able to choose their own health insurance policies.
