SEATTLE — A friend of a south Seattle man accused of killing his mother and stepfather says he has a history of mental illness.

The 45-year-old man, Richard Parenteau, was arrested Saturday and ordered held Monday without bail. The bodies were found earlier Saturday near the Duwamish River.

A friend, Alan Crownover, told KOMO that Parenteau thought someone was bugging his phone and thought he was Jesus. Crownover says police had been called to the home and Parenteau had been involuntarily committed in the past.
