Letter: Tapestry needs a permanent home

The Columbian

My husband and I had the privilege of viewing the lovely historic Fort Vancouver Tapestry that was on display at the downtown Vancouver Community Library. Thank you Columbian for alerting your readers to this display with the July 14 story, “A stitch in time: 108-foot-long Fort Vancouver Tapestry makes first Clark County appearance in three years.” It was only there for three days and then it went back into storage.

Seems that a city the size of Vancouver could find a permanent place to display this beautiful piece of work, as it could be used as an amazing teaching tool. It highlights so many interesting events from our past. Too bad we don’t have an arts center to display it in but we do have the Pearson Air Museum and/or the Clark County Historical Museum or maybe our city council could come up with an idea.

If this tapestry is just stored away again, it will be a great loss to the community.
